My cameras are my prides and joys. I take care of them like they’re my babies, and they each come out to play depending on the occasion. Because in the past I’ve been asked for advice on what cameras to purchase, here’s what I own and what I use them for…
Digital SLR camera, for custom photography: Canon Rebel/EOS XSi
Lenses include:
Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS
Canon EF 70-300mm telephoto USM
Tamron 18-200mm macro IF
Everyday point-and-shoot camera: Leica D-Lux 2
All-weather vacation camera: Olympus Stylus Tough-6000

Thanks for the tips on the cameras…I am looking into buying a Canon Rebel T3i but the package deal is a bit steep. Thinking I might go with an older model. Any suggestions?
The Rebel T3i is essentially the same as mine, plus the option for HD video recording. Though these cameras have some photographic limitations (sensor size, etc.), they are fantastic starter cameras for the amateur photographer that wants to learn how to shoot manually. For me, video recording was not a necessity. I wanted a camera for photography, and recording videos would sacrifice my memory space and battery life. If you opt out of this feature and get a camera like mine, you’ll save some bucks! Happy shopping!
